6 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Clash Of Champions 2016

5. What A Waste

Only WWE would end a Best of Seven series on a draw.

While the first six matches of Cesaro and Sheamus' series typically varied from "good" to "very good," and now that we've seen the last of them, they'll be missed. While the "comeback story" booking was predictable, Cesaro and Sheamus could always be relied on to deliver a quality wrestling match every week, as expected from two workers of their calibre.

Clash of Champions looked set to provide the best match of the series, and the European bruisers unleashed tremendous amounts of punishment on each other. Both shone, and while Sheamus brought his A-game, Cesaro was the star of the show, pulling-off a 619 of all things, and almost killing himself on a dive through the ropes.

The match spilled through the barricade, and that's when the referee decided he'd seen enough. With both wrestlers down, it was decreed that neither was fit to continue, and thus the series ends. WWE were en route to rounding-off one of their best matches of 2016, but they took a wrong turn at the final junction. We're likely heading towards a flat, lifeless resolution on this week's Raw, and it'll take something spectacular to wash this disappointment away.
