6 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 28)
3. Tag Champs Show Up… And That’s It
One of the more appealing, amusing parts of the “Woken” Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt feud/partnership was the uniqueness of everything: their interactions, their promos and their matches.
Now, WWE has determined that “unique” means a few signature spots during matches against low-level tag teams. No promos, no over-the-top vignettes, just Michael Cole and Corey Graves arguing about Hardy’s sons (King Maxel and Lord Wolfgang) during tag matches.
The tag division being pretty weak to begin with doesn’t help matters. Seriously, beyond Authors of Pain (who haven’t been on Raw recently), who is there? But what made Hardy and Wyatt interesting has faded to nothing in terms of screen time. This is one instance of where a silly vignette would work much better than another tag match against the Ascension or Breezango would do.
WWE was handed a gimmick in the Broken/Woken Universe and has all-but flushed it because they don’t understand how to use it. Taking two wrestlers who are gimmick-heavy and making them just wrestles doesn’t make sense.
