6 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Feb 11)

4. False Finish Prolongs Match

If you’re Finn Balor and have a 2-on-1 handicap match for the Intercontinental Championship, why would you want your ring-time to increase just days before the title match?

But Balor had to endure just that, winning his singles match against Drew McIntyre by DQ when Bobby Lashley attacked. Then, we got a six-man tag match that presumably ended when Lashley hit his finisher on Finn and pinned him.

But wait! Balor’s foot was on the ropes, but the ref’s decision is final, right?

Wrong. Another referee ran out to tell the first ref, who restarted the match, which the babyfaces finally won after some more action.

It’s the second ref and restart that earns the “down” here, as this virtuous ref saving the day bit only comes out when it’s convenient, nevermind the 47 other times that a heel cheats and no striped shirt runs out to protest his colleague’s miscue.

If anything, it feels like this was just to have a really long match to kill a bunch of time. It’s a shame it wasn’t a particularly good match.
