You would think a wrestling, er, sports entertainment company with a pedigree such as WWE that employs 87 writers would have numerous ideas and different ways to book matches, but the company constantly falls back on the same old tropes.

Case in point, the 20-man battle royal for a United States Championship title shot came down to Luke Harper, Erick Rowan and Humberto Carrillo. Whenever you see this scenario in WWE, you can almost book it: the two big men will team up on the little guy, and either one will backstab the other and have it backfire, or the little guy will get a surprise elimination before succumbing.

Sure enough, Rowan turned on Harper and eliminated his buddy while Harper was tossing Humberto, but the cruiserweight snuck back in and immediately tossed Rowan for the surprise victory.

God forbid you let a small guy look strong in victory. If it’s against bigger guys in WWE, the little guy must always look lucky.
