OK, Monday night was third down. Time for WWE to decide whether to punt or go for it.

In this case, we’re referring to Curt Hawkins’ losing streak. Zack Ryder has re-teamed with his old partner to try to help him shake his losing streak, but they’ve been unsuccessful so far. The idea is admirable – trying to convert a jobber back into a respectable wrestler by teaming him up with someone he had success with previously – but we need to see some progress.

Hawkins is getting more offense and wrestling with more confidence, but it’s so nuanced that you have to be watching for it to see it. At some point in the really near future, we’re going to need to see him actually win, even if it’s by count-out.

At this point, if WWE isn’t planning to have him win very soon, then just pull the plug, because this storyline isn’t going to last forever.
