6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 29)

3. So Much For The Stunt Tag Titles

One thing that has been repeated in these columns is how the Damien Mizdow character has a shelf life, and that WWE would be smart to not miss an opportunity to cash in on Damien€™s newfound popularity before the crowds turn on the gimmick. Has the gimmick peaked? Possibly. Is it in decline and time to bail? Not at all. However, being WWE Tag Team Champions probably is not necessary for Miz and Mizdow to continue their weird, yet fun, act. In some ways, being champs might have hampered them a little. For the last month, Miz has had to wrestle entire tag matches himself as part of the gimmick (with Mizdow mimicking him on the ring apron), so you€™d either have one man winning tag matches himself or your tag champs getting beat regularly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVHDuWrPkkw At least now by losing the titles, they can move down the road of Miz blaming Mizdow and taking out his frustration on him, and the duo can compete in matches without titles on the line. At the same time, the Usos can defend the Tag Team Championships in more straightforward matches without the comedy. So while it€™s a shame, it probably is for the best.
