6 Ups And Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 29)

4. Marital Woes Are Not Entertaining

When wrestling historians look back on this era in another decade or so, the Total Divas crossover storylines are going to be one of the most decried debacles listed. Using a reality show that appeals to a different group than your target demographic to set up wrestling angles is insanity. Case in point, the €œmarital woes€ between Tyson Kidd and Natalya were on display yet again Monday. The announcers speculated as to why Kidd wore a Nikki Bella hat last week (which they completely missed at the time) and Natalya lost because she was distracted by Tyson catching Nikki after she was knocked off the apron. And this makes the fans care about Nikki Bella battling Natalya over the Divas Championship how? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5URp74CVWgM If this was NXT, Nattie would have come out and demanded a title shot because she was the best wrestler on the roster and would threaten to prove it by tying Nikki into a pretzel. But because all Divas storylines must now apparently tie in with Total Divas, we get this. As a bonus, the next segment continued the Miz/Naomi/Jimmy Uso story, which then ended with Uso saying that they €œplayed€ Miz. Okay then.
