6 Worst Men's WWE World Champions Of The PG Era

5. Jack Swagger

Kane World Heavyweight Champion

The year 2010 was a poor one for the World Heavyweight Championship. Before Rey Mysterio and Kane began their underwhelming runs, Jack Swagger was given the ball in the form of a successful Money In The Bank cash-in, defeating Chris Jericho for the big gold belt.

This reign wasn’t the worst on this list; Swagger defended the belt against first-ballot Hall of Famers Edge, Randy Orton, and the man he took the title from, Chris Jericho. Even once he’d lost the title to Rey Mysterio at the Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, the rematch between the two at Money In The Bank was phenomenal. However, holding the title did nothing for the career progression of Swagger; the opposite of an ideal MITB winner.

This 79-day reign could have been the making of a new top star. Instead, Swagger was on his way back down the card by the end of the year. With a tweak or two to his character, the Real American could have been a great workhorse champion for the new generation; he had the look and the technical ability to mix it up with anyone. Alas, he was a one-shot wonder that never realised the potential he unquestionably had.
