6 Wrestlers Set To Disappear After WrestleMania 33

3. John Cena

He might be WWE’s franchise player, but the company are going to get used to John Cena not being around as much as usual. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has previously stated that Cena will miss more television in 2017 than ever before, and Cena is widely expected to take a lengthy sabbatical following WrestleMania 33.

Cena’s entertainment career is heating up, and his fame away from wrestling continues to grow. The 16-time World Champion recently hosted the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, and has an eye on emulating The Rock’s success away from the ring. A tall order, but Cena is definitely catching attention in Hollywood, and will soon commence filming Daddy’s Home 2 with Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, and Mel Gibson.

Of all the wrestlers set to vanish after April 2nd, Cena’s absence will be felt the most. He’s still WWE’s biggest star, and while not quite the all-conquering dominator he used to be, John remains a major player on SmackDown.

WWE are yet to find a true replacement for him as “the guy,” so hopefully his forthcoming absence will force the company to explore options not named “Roman Reigns” in this role.
