6 WWE Gimmicks You Didn't Realise Died Horrible Deaths
2. Vince McMahon Kills "American Badass" Undertaker By Burying Him Alive
We're not here to say that the character of The Undertaker died because obviously he's still around. However, the American Badass version of him became a thing of the past at Survivor Series 2003. Undertaker debuted in WWE in 1990, but when he returned from a hiatus in 2000 he did so on a motorcycle. His look changed. He wore a bandana on his head instead of a black jacket. He was the "American Badass" biker dude that was there to beat people up. He was in that role as a face as well as a heel and was very successful at doing it. At that Survivor Series 2003 event, he had a match against Vince McMahon where he dominated the whole time. It looked like he was going to win, but his evil brother Kane showed up to prevent that from happening. He ended up dumping Undertaker in the grave, which allowed McMahon to win the Buried Alive match. It was the last time we would ever see Undertaker in the American Badass persona. Four months later, Undertaker returned to face Kane at WrestleMania. He was back to looking like his old self although the hair wasn't as long as it used to be. There have been former writers and former employees that have done interviews over the years that pointed out that McMahon never wants anybody to bring up The Undertaker as the American Badass. That's why they buried it the way they did.
