Unless you've been living under a rock for a number of years, you'll have known that WWE would dearly like Roman Reigns to be the most popular individual in the professional wrestling world today. They've done all they can to get him over with the exception of turning him heel, the option that is quite clearly the only real option.

Two months after tying the record for more eliminations in a Survivor Series elimination match (four), Roman Reigns subsequently broke a 13 year old record by eliminating 12 individuals from the 2014 Royal Rumble. Kane had held the record previously with 11, but in just over half an hour (20 minutes less than Kane) Roman Reigns re-wrote the books.

There must be a couple of sub-notes there however, as WWE jumped through some hoops to beat this record. Reigns eliminated El Torito and JBL in the Rumble, and also got rid of The Great Khali alongside his Shield brethren.

Regardless, it was clear from this point that WWE were desperate to get Reigns over big time, even at the expense of classic old records.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
