6 WWE Records That Were Needlessly Broken

3. Longest Tag Team Championship Reign - The New Day

The latest WWE record to fall by the wayside, this past Monday saw Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E. tag their WWE Tag Team Championship reign past that of Demolition some 25 years earlier. The New Day have now held the straps for over 480 days, although many believe the titles will be lost this Sunday.

The assumption that the titles will change hands already puts a big tick in the 'spite' column, as it has been clear for a while that TND have held the titles this long in order to remove Demolition from the history books. The past few months have seen The New Day hold the division hostage somewhat, defending their titles but through increasingly shady means.

The members of Demolition are just two of more than 50 past WWE stars who are currently a part of a lawsuit against the company for brain injuries sustained whilst working years ago. Would WWE prolong a title reign way beyond its interest in order to remove a record from two men who are suing the company?

Of course they would.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
