7 Best Ways WWE Can Utilise Rumoured Returning Stars
2. Goldberg
Goldberg has not wrestled a match on television in 12 years, yet he remains one of the most sought after stars in the industry, thanks to the incredible aura that still follows him after his star-making turn in WCW.
Even a disappointing WWE run in which he was repeatedly undermined by Triple H and management behind the scenes, the name "Goldberg" continues to elicit great excitement and intrigue from fans chomping at the bit for one more run from the Monday Night Wars icon.
The recent revelation that Goldberg will be the star of WWE '17 has spurred rumors of a comeback. With the company desperate for star power as it embarks on another brand extension, a return to the industry that made him a household name through the late 1990s would make sense.
The only acceptable offer for Goldberg would be as a special attraction, a performer who can pop up on Raw and SmackDown, draw a rating and set up a high-profile wrestling match before repeating the cycle a few months later.
Overexposing his star did neither the performer nor the company any good last time and led to diminished results. Learning from the past, using Goldberg in a role similar to that of Brock Lesnar and reaping the rewards would best suit the sports-entertainment empire.
