7 Best WWE Flag Matches Ever

4. Rob Van Dam Vs. Sylvan Grenier (Raw May 26, 2003)

Rob Van Dam has always been one of the most popular American wrestlers. In 2003, he also took part in a Flag Match on the May 26, 2003 Memorial Day edition of Raw against Sylvan Grenier. At the time, Grenier was a part of the La Resistance tag team with Rene Dupree. The two French Canadians chose to represent France in this matchup. RVD was one half of the tag team champions along with Kane. With the American and French flags hanging off poles tied to the turnbuckles, the stipulation was that if Grenier won then his team would get a tag team title shot. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x719v9_rvd-vs-sylvan-grenier-flag-match_sport RVD used his experience to dominate the majority of the match. Dupree attacked Kane outside the ring and sent him face first into the steel steps. RVD was able to come back and when he went for a top rope attack, Grenier moved. RVD accidentally took out the ref with a dive. RVD had the flag in his possession. It looked like he won except for the fact that the ref was down. With the ref down, Dupree nailed Kane in the throat with the flagpole and then he put the US flag back up. La Resistance did a double flapjack and then Grenier climbed up to grab the flag.
