1. Bret Hart, Owen Hart & The British Bulldog Vs. The Undertaker, Steve Austin And Dude Love (Raw July 21, 1997)
In terms of star power, this is the Flag Match that featured the biggest names. It took place in Halifax, Nova Scotia in eastern Canada at a time when the Hart Foundation stable was pro Canadian and anti-American in everything that they did. The crowd was supportive of the Bret, Owen and Bulldog team while Austin & Dude were the tag team champions. Their partner was supposed to be Shawn Michaels, but he got taken out earlier in the night so The Undertaker, who was the WWE Champion at the time, subbed in as their partner. It was a tag match with the rule where you had to capture your country's flag that was hanging on a pole above the ring posts in their respective corners. They basically worked a regular tag team match without pinfalls. That meant Owen was getting worked over for his team for most of it. There really weren't a lot of attempts to get the flag either, which is what hurts a match like this. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5x5pj_team-usa-vs-team-canada-flag-match_sport For the finish, Hart and Undertaker did a double clothesline spot. Undertaker went for the American flag. He was stopped by Owen and Bulldog. Then Brian Pillman, another member of the Hart Foundation, broke it up. Austin went after him. Love went after Bulldog. Nobody went after Hart as he climbed the turnbuckle and retrieved the Canadian flag. That was the end of the match after about 12 minutes. The replay showed that Pillman interfered after he hid under the ring. As a tag match it was fine, but they really could have done a better job with the finish. At least the crowd in Canada loved it as the Hart Foundation celebrated with their Canadian flags. It's tough to have a good flag match where guys are going after flags on a pole. They're better when there's a pinfall or submission required.
