7 Big Things Shane McMahon Could Do To Shake Up WWE

6. Start A Cruiserweight Division

One of the factors that helped WCW Nitro compete and overtake the WWF was the amazing athleticism of the Cruiserweight Division. Eric Bischoff presented an exciting form of wrestling that most fans had never experienced before. He brought in some of the best talent from Japan, Mexico and unknowns from the United States and gave them a worldwide platform. It blew away anything going on in Vince McMahon€™s company. But for some reason, Vince never had any interest in a division filled with smaller wrestlers. Men like Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio seem out of place in his company, because there have been so few other fighters like them. When Vince had the Cruiserweight Division at his disposal, he treated it largely as a joke, with Gillberg and Hornswoggle both having runs with the belt. Somehow the owner still seems unaware that Conor McGregor, the top money-making male star in MMA, would be a Cruiserweight. Size really doesn€™t matter that much Due to the WWE Network, the company has needed a ton of new content to keep subscribers happy, so they€™ve announced a new Cruiserweight only show. That€™s a nice start, but why keep it for a much smaller audience? Shane could say that unlike his father, he doesn€™t care where a great idea comes from (see the NWO, ECW, Harley Race, DDP, etc.), and he likes what he sees in developmental and calls up a handful of the wrestlers for his own division. Others currently on the roster like Neville would finally have a platform to stand out. The new division would immediately make the product fresher, and deliver standout in-ring performances on Raw. Shane should make it seem like this is something he's personally giving to the fans, starting his reign off on a strong note.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
