7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE Royal Rumble 2019

4. WWE Championship Match

While Daniel Bryan's title defense against AJ Styles wasn't exactly the barn-burner we hoped it would be, the match's placement on the card set this one up to fail before it even began.

Going on straight after the women's Royal Rumble match (the same women's Royal Rumble match in which everyone lost their minds due to Becky Lynch's triumph), the crowd was depleted and, as a result, had absolutely nothing to offer. So all we could do at home was watch as Bryan and Styles attempted to outwrestle one another for 25 minutes in front of almost 50,000 crickets.

While the match itself could have been a little more engaging (and quicker-paced) to keep the audience entertained, both superstars were significantly short-changed by their spot on the card. The WWE Championship is technically the most important title in the company and yet, this battle was intentionally placed in the cool-off slot after one of the main event matches. Thus, it was portrayed as nothing more than an afterthought, simply serving as a precursor to the Universal Championship bout.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that both Styles and Bryan deserve better.
