7 Biggest Missed Opportunities From WWE WrestleMania 35
3. No Undertaker Appearance
The Undertaker is part of the very fabric that is WrestleMania. He is one of its greatest performers and is responsible for the greatest-winning streak in the event's history. However, he was completely absent from this year's installment.
It's not even this absence that upset fans, but the complete randomness of it. It's common knowledge that the legend hasn't retired yet and, with his WWE return imminent (at the upcoming Saudi Arabian event), it's downright bizarre that the company didn't utilise him at their biggest show of the year.
Nobody was expecting the aging gunslinger to show up and wrestle a 30-minute match, but the idea of a WrestleMania without so much as an appearance from 'Taker was too depressing to think about because, despite the signs, we hung on until the very ending hoping that his signature gong would ring out through the arena. Unfortunately, it didn't.
This marked the first WrestleMania that 'The Phenom' had missed since 2000 and, despite WWE's best efforts, his absence was incredibly noticeable. From Elias' segment to Kurt Angle's final match, there were plenty of moments were an Undertaker appearance would have benefited the show, and yet it never happened.
With 'Taker backstage at the event, the fact that he wasn't involved in the show just feels like a real missed opportunity on WWE's part.
