7 Candidates To Replace The Authority As WWE's New Figurehead
3. Jerry Lawler
It's time to get Jerry "The King" Lawler out of the announcing chair. We can all tell that he's way past his prime. It's obvious that Vince McMahon loves the guy because he's putting him out there week after week for over twenty years. However, listening to Lawler act surprised about obvious heel turns or marking out for things that 65 year old men (birthday in a few weeks) shouldn't care about is getting very annoying. There comes a time in every wrestler's life where they have to change things up. Lawler is at the age where he could retire at any time although it seems like McMahon wants to keep him around. If that's the case, they should put him in a different role: General Manager. Lawler is a WWE Hall of Famer that was a very good wrestler, but he was best known for his promos. He's one of the best promo guys ever. As GM, all he would need to do is deliver promos. Most likely he'd be in a face role, but if they needed him to be a heel we know he can do some great heel promos. Removing Lawler from the announce team would help. Raw needs a change. Whether it's William Regal that replaces him or somebody else, a lot of people could do a better job announcing at this point. He was a great announcer. He's not anymore. Make him the GM instead. It would be a welcome change.
