7 Early Signs From WWE That No Mercy Will Top SummerSlam 2017

1. Both Major Matches Are Drenched In Reality

Just how many matches at SummerSlam felt realistic aside from that much-heralded Fatal-4-Way? Certainly not the WWE Title match between Jinder Mahal and Shinsuke Nakamura or the silliness of Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Bálor. Hell, even John Cena's one-sided opener against Baron Corbin felt forced.

By comparison, the two major matches at No Mercy are steeped in a sense of realism which feels 100% refreshing; whether you prefer the 'Monster vs. Monster' attraction of Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman or the 'you can't fill my main event shoes' feel to John Cena vs. Roman Reigns, even the most jaded of WWE fans must admit that realism is the way to go at the moment.

The stories are simple. Strowman wants to destroy Lesnar, prove himself as the only true monster on Raw and take the Universal Title. Meanwhile, Reigns wants to send Cena packing back to Hollywood so he can continue to be WWE's workhorse without the part-time interruptions.

Soaking the marquee matches for No Mercy in realism is working. After the phoney feel to SummerSlam, such an organic approach should be welcomed.
