7 Great TNA Moments You Totally Forgot Even Happened
7. Mick Foley Punching Bubba The Love Sponge
Mick Foley's run in TNA can be summed up in three (slightly disparate) parts: initial excitement over another big star coming in from WWE, some ambitious matches with Sting and Ric Flair, and punching Bubba The Love Sponge right in the shock jock's irritating face. Bubba wasn't popular after having a heated online argument with Awesome Kong, stemming from insensitive remarks he made about the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
On the 22 March 2010 episode of Impact, right after losing a No DQ "Loser Is Fired" match against Jeff Jarrett, Foley sought refuge in comforting faces backstage. Hilariously, he told some of the female workers not to hug him because his wife was watching, then refused an interview with the obnoxious Bubba.
That's when Hulk Hogan's loudmouth radio pal told Mick not to let the "door hit him on the way out".
Foley immediately rescued the situation by pinning Bubba against the nearest wall, shouting some incomprehensible insults and socking him right in the mush. Best of all, a nearby whiteboard showing that evening's matches fell right on Sponge's spongy head.
