7 Ground-Breaking Promos That Changed A Career Forever

6. Is There A Problem With The Rockers? I Don€™t Think So

Today, Shawn Michaels is remembered as one of the greatest superstars of all time. But back in 1991, Michaels€™ WWE trophy cabinet was empty. So how did this happy-go-lucky tag team starlet transform himself into one of the most successful performers in the business? Obviously there were a number of factors involved, but it all began back in December €™91 during the now infamous Barber Shop incident. As far as promos go, this one was relatively short€”11 words to be exact. But in this case, Michaels allowed his actions to do the talking. After seemingly burying the hatchet with his partner, Marty Jannetty, the Heartbreak Kid proceeded to shock the world by nailing his former buddy with some Sweet Chin Music before launching him through the glass window. It was a hugely emphatic signal of intent, and the genesis of a new, cockier and controversial persona that would see Michaels become one of the most notorious stars of the 90s. Over the next six and a half years alone, the showstopper won three world titles, three intercontinental titles, one European title, back-to-back Royal Rumbles and four successive PWI Match of the Year awards. The Barber Shop segment was the game-changing moment and the perfect platform from which could Michaels launch his singles career and fulfil his abundant potential. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5wIrYuzDOg
