7 Ground-Breaking Promos That Changed A Career Forever

3. You Can Call This The New World Organisation Brother

For years, Hulk Hogan was the face of professional wrestling and the archetypal babyface. But that all changed in 1996, when the Hulkster pulled of one of the biggest heel turns of all time at Bash at the Beach. Having seemingly taken to the ring to fend off Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, Hogan shocked the world by nailing Randy Savage with the leg drop, revealing himself as the €œthird man€ in cahoots with the Outsiders. Unlike the majority of entrants on this list, Hogan had actually achieved an overwhelming amount of success prior to the promo that he delivered after his time. But what makes this particular case worthy of a place on this list is the way in which the promo reinvented Hogan€™s character. Hogan€™s good guy shtick had been growing somewhat stale since his 1980s run with the WWE. But after creating the nWo alongside Hall and Nash, he gave his gimmick a gust of fresh air that was, in all honesty, much needed. The following years saw the nWo run roughshod over WCW in an angle that captivated audiences across America, even helping the organisation overtake the WWE in the Monday Night War ratings. And it was this promo that set all of that in motion. Sure, he may have botched the announcement of the new factions' name, but don't let that take away from the fact that thanks to Hogan new lease of life and the nWo's subsequent rampage. For those reasons, this was one of the true game-changing promos in pro wrestling history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6aRr9zhyM8
