7 Horrific Injuries Wrestlers Suffered Outside The Ring

5. Lex Luger's Motorcycle Crash

If anyone knows a thing or two about being thrown from a vehicle, it's Lex Luger.

In 1992, Luger was preparing himself for a simple spokesman gig as part of Vince McMahon's ill-fated World Bodybuilding Federation. The job seemed perfect for Lex, and it'd enable him to pick up a pay check without breaching the terms of his no-compete clause post-WCW.

Shortly before starting his new contract, Lex was involved in a terrible motorcycle accident when he crashed into a car and went flying over the bike's handlebars. As he hurtled dangerously, and head first, through some trees, Luger surely thought he'd be mincemeat within seconds. Incredibly, he survived the fall, didn't hit one tree and came out relatively unscathed.

Relatively.

Lex's arm was broken horribly. The damage was so bad that surgeons had to implant several steel plates, rods and bolts between the bone to keep everything together. Somehow, his arm recovered and Luger was able to make the metal plating part of his Narcissist gimmick in the WWF.
