7 Horrific Injuries Wrestlers Suffered Outside The Ring

3. Lita's Broken Neck

It wouldn't have been a huge surprise had Lita suffered a serious neck or spinal injury inside a WWE ring. That's not a bash on her professionalism at all, but more shock that bumps like this one didn't land her in hospital or end her career. Somehow, even though she over-rotated during that suicide dive spot, Lita was alright.

She wouldn't be when filming a routine Hurricanana during her special appearance on the Dark Angel TV show in 2002.

During the show's season finale, Lita was tasked with performing her trademark move. Though it was something she'd done hundreds of times before, things would be different on set; the stunt double Lita was working with dropped her mid-move, and the violent fall caused three cracks in her vertebrae.

She'd miss around 17 months of action due to the injury and had to have both her C5 and C6 vertebrae fused together. It's bizarre that someone who had performed as many moonsaults, dives and bumps as Lita had was injured outside the ring.
