7 Huge Mistakes WWE Made With Chris Jericho's Debut Year

4. Pairing Mr. Hughes With Him Was A Bad Idea

Following Jericho's debut, they tried a lot of things with him. It was a case of WWE's creative team not really knowing what worked with him in WCW, so they were busy trying to do their own thing. Jericho had a comedic "security" guard in WCW named Ralphus, who was this fat guy that wore a short that was too small so that his belly was hanging out. For whatever reason, WWE felt the need to give Jericho a bodyguard in WWE, so they paired him with Mr. Hughes. He actually had a brief run in WWE as Triple H's bodyguard before Chyna showed up. The reason for having Hughes there was because Jericho was the kind of heel that would run from opponents, so he had Hughes around to save him when he would get his ass kicked. It didn't last too long, though. When WWE realized Jericho was getting cheered a lot they turned him into a babyface and there was no need for Hughes anymore. You could say that they didn't need him at all. Hughes didn't last too much longer after that.
