3. It Was a Mistake To Not Include Him In A SummerSlam Match
Jericho's debut took place a couple of weeks before SummerSlam. You would think WWE would capitalize on his momentum by putting him in a match on the biggest show of the summer. Nope. He wasn't completely left off the show because he showed up to cut a promo ripping on Road Dogg, but he was not a part of a match either. It felt weird because they spent all that time building his debut up and he was on fire immediately after showing up, but they still kept him out of the ring at SummerSlam. In WWE's defense, the 1999 SummerSlam card was pretty full with nine matches, most of which were short. That was a common theme of WWE in 1999, though. Looking back on it, though, they should have found a way to include Jericho because of the momentum he had after his debut. He should have won a big match over a midcarder as a way to show he was a major player that was there to make a huge impact in WWE for years to come.
