7 Match Star Ratings For WWE Survivor Series 2021

4. The Rock's 25 Man Anniversary Battle Royal

Big E Roman Reigns II
WWE

Usually, the Battle Royal is a match of two halves: the first a slow-moving mass of indistinguishable flesh, the second a fairly dramatic if very familiar blend of suspense and athleticism.

As a showcase for Omos, The Rock's 25 Man Anniversary Battle Royal was a slow-moving mass of indistinguishable flesh in the first half and a dull procession of eliminations in the second. The match genre is also a platform to further storylines and character arcs beyond the outcome. Sami Zayn attempted to convince Ricochet and Cesaro to team up, citing brand loyalty, but was swiftly dumped because he was the only person on the night to give a sh*t about it. It will incite more of his aimless paranoia schtick, so there's that, but the only WWE roster member who cared about the very purpose of the event was portrayed as an obnoxious geek. Who could possibly give a sh*t about that, the babyfaces seemed to suggest. This is about The Rock!

Who can't even be arsed to appear via satellite.

Omos eliminated several people in succession to simply win a match designed as his vehicle, which is a ferry. A large, slow ferry.

This was also a pizza advert masquerading as a match because that's what WWE is now: a corporate revenue stream that some people still turn up to attend.

In dead silence, on this evidence.

Star Rating: ¾★
