Heres another example of the writing team hoping to use a big win over Cena as a way of establishing a new up-and-coming star. Once more though, this was a case of misplaced faith. Having left the WWE in 2004, Matt Bloomaka Albert or A-Trainwent on to make a name for himself after reinventing his gimmick in Japan. Playing on this reality, Bloom returned under the moniker Lord Tensai, with the company hoping he would become its next monster heel. That much was made apparent when he claimed the scalp of Cena just two weeks after his return to the WWE. Not only did Tensai win, but he scored the victory via pinfallfirst spraying Cena with the green mist and following it up with the Ichiban Chokebomb. Cena had in fact been distracted moments earlier by an interference from David Otunga, but nevertheless it was a shocking defeat that few would have expected, given Tensais newness to the company. Had Tensai gone on to become a star, this defeat wouldnt have been anywhere near as embarrassing. Ultimately though, and much like the previous case of Curtis Axel, Tensai suffered an incredible fall from grace, ultimately becoming Sweet T as a part of the Funkadactyls. Looking back now, this one will not be fondly remembered by Cenaor the writers for that matterat all.
