7 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (Feb 24)

3. Josh Matthews Is EVEN STUPIDER Than We Thought Last Week

Montreal Screwjob Brazzers

Ah, Josh Matthews.

Last week, he proclaimed himself the greatest play by play commentator in all of wrestling, conveniently forgetting that Jim Ross still gets regular work. Michael Cole does a serviceable job in difficult circumstances, a far better one that Matthews does without Vince McMahon screaming in his ear. Kevin Kelly's minutes of silence between insights during New Japan shows is far more engaging than Matthews' droning, relentless filibuster. Even Matt Striker, also prone to nonsensical comedic grandstanding, is at least enthusiastic enough to engage viewers. Matthews is a sneering, irony-drenched automaton.

He made a fool of himself, and any contrarian arguments - that he was working everybody, for some reason - were countered it when it became apparent that he is in no way clever enough to pull off the long con.

Matthews should be grateful that somebody is crackers enough to employ him - but he was mental enough to put his employment in jeopardy this week when he suggested that the hosts of the Real Shoot Wrestling Podcast should shoot themselves. TNA officials were livid that Matthews was stupid enough to endorse suicide on social media.

Matthews is self-destructing when TNA is in the midst of a management takeover. Simultaneously self-congratulating and self-immolating probably isn't the best way of endearing himself to his new employers.
