2. Dolph Ziggler Superkicks Nothing

Somebody up there really doesn't like Dolph Ziggler, for he was booked to look like an absolute t*t on SmackDown this week.

Various vignettes were filmed ahead of the No. 1 Contender's Battle Royal main event. It was almost run-of-the-mill, sub-Royal Rumble stuff. Proceedings descended into the bizarre when AJ Styles kicked some production equipment as if he was starring in a silent movie, but degenerated into unfathomable lunacy when Dolph Ziggler Superkicked the green screen behind him after cutting one of the most generic "I'm a heel now" promos you're likely to hear all year.

Ziggler waffled on about the new era getting cancelled, as if he was Sheamus last year, and sent a warning to the rest of the locker room. "Anyone who thinks they can replace me..." It was meant to be chilling, but the premise was undermined entirely when he kicked his own blue screen. "Replace that!" he said. Shouldn't be too hard, mate - there's a few green screens going for a flat hundred on Amazon.

You'd think WWE would have learned their lesson from the last time it decided to run with such a dumb-looking stunt - but this is a company that is still proceeding with the idea that Roman Reigns is a top-level babyface.
