4. Kevin Owens Has Been Squashed By Two Part Timers In Under A Week

At Fastlane, Kevin Owens was depicted as an absolute moron as he fell prey to Chris Jericho's distraction prank. He lost the Universal Title to Goldberg, part-time star of yesteryear, in under thirty seconds. Just six days later, he was thrown around the ring by Brock Lesnar, part-time star of yesteryear, in a match which apparently went just two minutes.

Kevin Owens isn't Bo Dallas - or even a Rusev, a credible performer nonetheless seen as a midcarder often used to make The Rock et al look marginally stronger - he is meant to be a headline act. He looks anything but following the events of this and last week.

In fairness, the brief fan footage which exists of it confirms that Owens got some licks in at the start. Those manic thirty seconds or so are also considerably more exciting than anything Lesnar has managed since 2015. The story of the match seemed to be one of over-exuberance - Owens pummelled Lesnar, only to take to the skies once too often, falling victim to a beautiful top rope German suplex.

Irrespective of the match's quality, though, was the message it conveyed to the fandom: Owens is at least one notch below the real WWE stars, all of which makes the last few months absolutely infuriating. He was presented as a main event star throughout the winter, but those months clearly don't factor into canon.

They might as well have been house shows.
