5. Triple H Has Buried Randy Orton

Triple H made some interesting comments in connection with Randy Orton this week - you know, the same Randy Orton who is set to challenge for the top prize in the company on what is (ostensibly) the main event of the biggest show of the year.

"[Orton] has everything it takes, man," Triple H began, as if Orton was one of his developmental prospects and not a tenured twelve-time World Champion. This tentative approval soon gave way to something more concrete - "But, man, he just has it all" - before he subjected his former Evolution stablemate to baffling criticism on his Cheap Heat podcast appearance. "And I still think Randy doesn't take advantage of all the tools he has. I still think he does what he needs to do. Do you know what I mean? But he could be even better."

"Don't get me wrong," he continued, which is Trips' doublespeak for "This is what I really mean-uh!": "He's great. I just wonder how great he could be."

Triple H wasn't entirely wrong, but you don't admit that. Damning Orton with faint praise ahead of WrestleMania was bizarre. He should have operated within full bluster mode.

It's always one step forward, two steps back with The Game. He has built NXT into something immensely rewarding for fans and talents alike, but he just cannot stop himself from adhering to his own set of rules.
