7 Most Notorious Randy Savage Urban Legends

2. He Made Up With Hulk Hogan Before His Death

Story: There's long been rumours of a love/hate relationship between Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan. For some, both men only saw eye to eye when they were making money together. When they weren't, friction levels would skyrocket. As far back as the 1980's, Savage felt that Hogan was poking his nose in where it didn't belong with regards to his relationship with Elizabeth. It seems as though there was an eternal battle between both guys. Savage, as the slightly smaller man, wanted to prove that he was every bit as big a star as Hulk. A few months before Savage sadly passed away in 2011, he and Hogan apparently bumped into one another at a doctor's office. During the meeting, they buried a longstanding hatchet, something which proved more poignant after Randy tragically died of cardiac arrest at the wheel of his car a short time later. Why People Believe It: Lanny Poffo and Hogan have spoken about this. According to Hogan, the meeting at the doctor's got rid of any longstanding heat and Hogan had planned to reconnect with Randy further, telling WWE.com that:
We talked on the phone a couple of times. I invited him over to have a barbeque, and really got back on track, which was cool. Later, I was with Lanny, his brother, at an independent wrestling show. He told me their mom wasn't doing so well with Angelo passing away. So we had planned on having a barbeque at her house €” because I got along well with Randy's mom €” and try to cheer her up. So, Lanny and I called Randy from the arena. Three days later, he had the heart attack. It was crazy.
Should We Believe It: It's admittedly doubtful that things happened so amicably, but Savage seemed to change as a man once he left the pro-wrestling world behind. Perhaps he thought it was time to let bygones be bygones and really wanted to mend fences with his former friend. Hogan certainly seemed like he wanted to as the instigator and it's doubtful that Lanny/WWE would allow him to posthumously induct Randy into the Hall of Fame, had Randy died with the two on bad terms.
