7 New Directions For WWE After Backlash 2025
4. Jeff Cobb Becoming Solo’s New Monster
WWE's announcers haven't been calling Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and pals the Bloodline/New Bloodline for a while now, but they're still tied as on-screen partners. At least for now. On the 9 May SmackDown ahead of this PLE, Solo bemoaned the fact that he's "out of soldiers". So, Sikoa went out and found himself a new enforcer.
Jeff Cobb surprisingly debuted at Backlash to cut down LA Knight and aid Jacob's quest to remain United States Champ. Initially, Fatu looked confused by Cobb's presence, but then he eyeballed Solo and acknowledged that both were there to help him. Even so, Jacob stormed off on his own right at the end of the segment. Any good vibes remaining between he and Sikoa won't last.
Brace yourselves for some epic matches like Fatu vs. Solo and Fatu vs. Cobb. That's when Jacob's babyface run will be made official official. Let's be honest, WWE fans have already fallen in love with the guy, so there's no way Triple H will spurn the chance to roll with that and see if he becomes the promotion's latest top merch shifter.
Once they've finished feuding with Jacob and helped him take yet another step up the card, both Solo and Cobb can become tag-team partners. Why not? Cobb likely won't be around for years and years. At 42 and having already teased retirement, Jeff will almost certainly be viewing this as his final chance to take a stab at the WWE system, make some money and have some more fun.
He's there largely to help springboard Fatu more than anything else.
