7 Notoriously Hated WWE Storylines (That Weren't Actually So Bad)
1. The Blue Blazer
Before we get into this one, let me state the obvious: The ultimate result of the Blue Blazer gimmick is one of the most tragic mishaps to ever happen in the world of professional wrestling. And Owen Hart's untimely and completely avoidable passing remains a huge black mark on the WWE.
Now, with that said, it's almost impossible to go back and watch his last run as the Blue Blazer and not be entertained. Hart committed to that character intensely, just like he did everything else. There was no half-assing his portrayal of a bumbling, pseudo-superhero. A character he fought to revive, by the way, in an attempt to counteract the vulgarity that had overtaken the product during the Attitude Era.
And honestly, it worked. It was nice to see something so consistently lighthearted and earnest show up every week.
But perhaps most importantly, The Blue Blazer showcased what his coworkers all knew, but the audience had been blind to for so many years: Owen Hart was one funny SOB. This wasn't the whiny, obnoxious Owen we were used to seeing for so many years. This was something different. Something special.
Owen was obviously having the time of his life in the role, and it was infectious. We shouldn't let that one tragic night at Over the Edge taint the rest of his work.
