7 Options To End Brock Lesnar's WWE Universal Championship Reign

7. Roman Reigns

If you think a WrestleMania defeat and a controversial loss in Jeddah means Roman Reigns is 100% out of the WWE Universal Championship picture, you haven’t been paying much attention. The contentious ending to the steel cage match in Saudi Arabia gives Reigns a very simple way back into title contention, and the forthcoming Jinder Mahal feud will do little more than keep him busy until Lesnar is back.

Will the wider fanbase buy Roman Reigns as a legitimate challenger to Brock Lesnar? Of course not, but this is the same fanbase who have rejected Reigns as the number one babyface in the company for the last three years. Did that change WWE’s booking of the guy? Of course it didn’t.

Unless Roman Reigns picks up a serious injury, he is going to be a contender to dethrone Roman Reigns at the top of RAW. Whether you like that or not is entirely immaterial. The former three-time WWE champion is going to be a fixture at the top of the card for years to come, and the ambivalence of the crowd matters not one jot.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
