It was later overshadowed by the series of TLC matches these two teams had with The Dudley Boyz, but the greatest era in modern tag team wrestling began with a Best of Five Series between The Hardy Boyz and Edge & Christian. What were they fighting over at this point? None other than the managerial services of Terri Runnels.

Now, quite why Terri's managerial services were of such great value is beyond me, but I guess I'm missing the point. This series well and truly put both teams on the map, with Matt & Jeff in particular going up in a whole lot of eyes at the end of it. It was indeed the Hardyz who pulled out the win, winning 3-2 after a fantastic ladder match that still stands up today.

The whole thing was probably supposed to just be a vehicle for a boob joke, but it ended with four new superstars and a new appreciation for an upgraded style of tag team wrestling. The days of old bruisers was over, athleticism was now the keyword in the tag team team division.

Well, that and TIT.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
