Before we continue, a bit of background:

So yes, much like Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, John Cena and Randy Orton are well-acquainted, much to the chagrin of longtime fans. Their years-long on-and-off feud has been pointed to as WWE’s 16-year-long problem of lacking originality or freshness. Still, given that after the Royal Rumble this year, they actually teased this as the main event of WrestleMania, you know WWE always have it in their back pocket. After all, they’ve never had a one-on-one match at WrestleMania (though they were in a triple threat with Triple H at ‘Mania 24).

What also should be recognized is that while longtime adult fans scoff at Cena vs. Orton, there’s an entire generation of young adults who grew up watching the product when Cena and Orton were at their peak feud. For them, seeing them on a PPV like WrestleMania might actually be of huge nostalgic intrigue, and if there’s anything WWE loves more than rematches, it’s milking nostalgia.

Speaking of rematches for nostalgia’s sake...
