WWE loves its record-breaking title reigns. A few major milestones have been passed over the last few years, and each has been celebrated as a major achievement. Not only that, but those in charge have placed more and more roadblocks in the way before the champions could reach the top of that particular mountain.

The New Day had to defend its titles twice in one night in order to pass Demolition’s record reign as tag title holders (despite its titles not sharing the same history as those held by Ax and Smash). Nikki Bella withstood the onslaught of the Women’s Revolution before surpassing AJ Lee’s Divas Championship reign. The setting of new records has generally been presented as a big deal on WWE TV, and the champion has had to earn that record all the way up until its passing.

Brock Lesnar is a couple of weeks away from passing CM Punk’s number. When he does, it will have been 45 days since his previous title defence. Brock Lesnar is going to set a new milestone in modern world title history, and he is going to do so by default.
