7 Reasons Brock Lesnar Shouldn't Break CM Punk's Modern WWE World Championship Record

3. There Will Be No Mention Of Passing Punk

CM Punk Champion

Carrying on from the previous point, Brock Lesnar is going to pass CM Punk’s reign and nobody on WWE TV is going to make mention of it. This is highly unusual, and makes a mockery of both Lesnar and Punk’s respective championship reigns. Brock Lesnar is going to set a new modern record for a world title reign, and a whole new generation of fans isn’t going to be aware of it.

Usually WWE loves to talk up these sorts of things. Lesnar is nominally positioned as a heel (with a heel mouthpiece to boot), and never has a heel passed up on the opportunity to let everyone know that he is about to pass a milestone. The Miz made mention of the various superstars he was passing on his way to becoming the second longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. Comparing Brock Lesnar and The Miz is like comparing a bear with a wombat, but you surely get the point. Brock Lesnar is days away from passing CM Punk’s modern record, yet the record is passing like a ship in the night.

This isn’t wholly surprising, what with the whole lawsuit thing going on, but it is still an unfortunate state of affairs.
