7 Reasons Conor McGregor Won't Be Joining WWE Any Time Soon
4. Hubris
This may or may not come into play, but think about it:
Aside from a one-off appearance, just how does a WWE run work for Conor McGregor? Do you see him willing to walk away from his confident, boastful persona and put someone over? Do you see him willing to risk his brand - basically his image - by taking a bad loss at the hands of a WWE worker?
Do you see him willing to lose clean to John Cena? Get rag-dolled by Brock Lesnar?
Frankly, McGregor has a fair amount of hubris to him, and in the fight game, it makes him a compelling figure. The scripted world of WWE, however, is a different matter. Fans want an underdog, they want a comeback story, and the WWE must deliver. The UFC just goes out there and hopes it all works out, which is what made McGregor vs. Diaz 2 so successful.
However, while he says he's humble in both victory and defeat, that really only counts the time immediately following the fight. McGregor thrives on boasting that he's the best, that he'll take on anyone, and it's hard to see him wanting to ever take a fall, which just wouldn't work in pro wrestling.
