7 Reasons Eva Marie Should Be WWE SmackDown's First Women's Champion
4. She's Extremely Over
When the brand split was announced many observers were hoping that they’d keep all the women together on one show due to the roster not being deep enough to support two separate brands of female talent. Even with the NXT call-ups, most of whom are still very green, there just isn’t enough true star power that to fill out multiple divisions.
Despite the fact that WWE has arguably more talented women on the payroll than they ever had at any other time in the company’s history, there’s still very few real stars. The most over women on WWE’s payroll isn’t even on the main roster yet, and outside of Bayley, only Sasha and to a much, much lesser extent Becky Lynch and Charlotte they’re devoid of ladies who are extremely over.
Eva Marie has managed to become one of the bigger female names on the main roster literally without even breaking a sweat. Every week she comes out to a tremendous amount of pomp and circumstance, floating on a massive amount of self-created hype, and every week she denies us plebs the chance to see her compete in all her all red glory.
It’s driving the fans crazy, and it’s brilliant. Who could have guessed that the best way to get a bad wrestler over was to embrace the fact that they are a bad wrestler and use it to their advantage? We don’t give WWE creative credit very often, but in this case whoever put this gimmick together deserves it, because she’s become one of the most over women on the roster, and she hasn’t needed one single four star match to do it.
