7 Reasons Eva Marie Should Be WWE SmackDown's First Women's Champion

3. She's All About The Look

Let’s face it; the only reason Eva Marie ever signed her name to a WWE contract in the first place is because of her looks. As was the case with many of the former divas, WWE was recruiting women from the world of modeling who had little to no interest in professional wrestling, and molding them into what they wanted them to be. It’s no secret why this generation of women wrestlers are the most technically adept we’ve ever seen. These are ladies who grew up idolizing the likes of Lita and Trish Stratus and wanting to become wrestlers, not hot girls who plucked up by some “talent scout.”

Love her or hate her, Eva does not belong to that group, she’s one of the models brought into the company to boost the “hotness factor” of the roster. While she’s not appealing to my own personal tastes, there can be no denying that the majority of the viewing audience finds her extremely attractive, and while great matches and solidly booked angles are very important, it doesn’t hurt to have the eye candy on the team.

What makes that work even better is that it has become part of her gimmick: Eva the character knows that’s what she’s there for and she’s embraced it and made it work.

There are plenty of women in the company who aren’t there for the photo shoots and the bikini posters, and that’s perfectly fine. In fact, it’s why women’s wrestling is thriving. We have a roster full of ladies more focused on showing their backslides than their backsides. But WWE is still going to tap into that market, and Eva Marie is the prime candidate to lead that movement.
