7 Reasons It's Time For CM Punk To Make His Wrestling Return

5. The Main Event Vacuum

If there’s one criticism that could be levelled at WWE’s New Era, it’s a lack of main event talent. That’s not to say Vince McMahon’s current roster isn’t packed with talented stars, but there are currently very few full time performers being built to headline major PPVs. Part timers like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, and John Cena are still on top, while potential headliners like Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor are out nursing injuries.

Were CM Punk to return to the wrestling business, he’d instantly be able to fill WWE’s main event vacuum. What’s more, he wouldn’t even have to wrestle all that much, if he didn’t want to. His time leading and managing The Nexus, The Shield and the Straight Edge Society proved that he could excel in non-physical roles, and Punk could easily fill the role of a fan favourite authority figure.

Audiences would lap it up: ‘the disgraced Superstar, ousted by the evil McMahon family, returns to claim authority over WWE.’ It’s an angle with unlimited potential and scope, and Punk is a babyface figure fans can instantly get behind - something else WWE lacks in 2017.
