2. It's More Of A True WWE Alternative
TNA have never been hesitant to play up their perceived status as an alternative product to the WWE, but this claim holds less substance than it might initially appear to. The transition to a four-sided ring may have been the most obvious aesthetic similarity to Vince's promotion, but TNA had been copying Vince's style for years previously. Their inability to resist signing a WWE cast-off may have boosted their short term ratings, but have unquestionably damaged the promotion in the long run. The current TNA roster features Kurt Angle, Bobby Lashley, both Hardy brothers, MVP, Drew Galloway, and Mr Anderson (formerly Kennedy), demonstrating a clear lack of faith in their homegrown talent. ROH is an entirely different prospect. On a basic level, it looks incredibly different. Although its darker lighting and lack of flashy ring attire signal far lower production values, its indie look could be a blessing in disguise. A grittier aesthetic never harmed ECW in the late 1990s, nor will it damage Ring of Honor's chances of making an impact.
