7 Reasons Why Roman Reigns Will Struggle To Carry WWE

4. His Matches Are Mediocre

When Roman Reigns was in The Shield, he was protected perfectly. Rollins and Ambrose did most of the work, then Reigns would tag in a couple of times, hit some power moves and call it a night. Once he left the group, all eyes were on him when he was in the ring. He also had to take on lengthier matches, and the results have been pretty€meh. Now Reigns is certainly better in the ring than McMahon€™s last pet project in Ryback. He€™s also better than Ultimate Warrior ever was, but for top level babyfaces that€™s about it. He€™s nowhere near the same league of Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. Yes, he€™s only been in the wrestling business since 2010, but in those four years he hasn€™t displayed an uncanny knack for the sport like say a Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar. Right now, he€™s probably most comparable to Batista. His matches are fine, but he needs a really good opponent to take him to the next level. Even Randy Orton, who has had his share of great matches over the years has only pulled some fairly-bland to fairly-good matches out of him. At the age of 29, Reigns is bound to keep improving, but for someone slated to be John Cena€™s heir, it would be nice to have already shown some signs of potential in-ring greatness.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
