2. The Timing Is Perfect

British wrestling is undergoing a new golden era. More and more superstars are hitting the big time with WWE (Paige, Neville and Balor if we’re counting ‘the Isles’, as well as up and coming cruiserweights like Jack Gallagher), indie organisations like What Culture’s own WCPW, ICW, and Progress are consistently packing arenas, and now ITV is potentially bringing back World of Sport Wrestling after a New Years Eve one off special with Jim Ross.

The British scene is so chock full of talent in fact, that the WWE has just created a United Kingdom Championship!

What a perfect time to honour a man who draped himself in the Union Flag and inspired so many Brits to pursue a career in pro wrestling, and gave British wrestling fans something to latch onto after ITV World of Sport Wrestlings's demise. While the whole world is watching during WrestleMania this year, seeing a Brit given the ultimate honour will only further ignite the belief and ambition of the amazing athletes emerging from the UK today, and also would persuade some long lost casual fans to jump back into WWE.
