7 Reasons The WWE Universal Championship Is A Horrific Idea

5. Raw Favoritism

Vince McMahon has always had this misguided pride when it comes to his Monday night program. The longest-running in WWE history, Raw has featured the greatest angles and most epic moments of the last 23 years. It was the show that captured the imaginations of millions and brought McMahon back from the brink of death during the Monday Night Wars with WCW.

It is understandable that the boss would have sentimental feelings for the red brand. With that said, he only devalues his own product when he favors one show over the other.

The creation of the WWE Universal Championship will make that a greater possibility.

Bright, shiny new toys always grab the attention and focus of the kids who get to play with them and the new title will be no different for WWE Creative. The idea of starting from scratch, of being able to mould the early legacy of a championship it undoubtedly hopes sticks around for generations to come will fuel those in power to emphasise it.

In the process, SmackDown will be shoved to the background, its main feuds and performers taking a backseat to those combating for that shiny new toy.
