7 Reasons Why WWE Hell In A Cell 2017 Floundered

1. Shane McMahon Was In The Main Event

Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon put on a decent match; there was a lot of action, Owens played the heel role like he was born into it (big thumbs up for taunting the O'Mac children), and the high impact spots on the top of the Cell were nail-biting to say the least.

Vince McMahon sees his son as a big deal, and getting the opportunity to fight against Shane should be seen as an honour. But when all is said and done, Shane is a 48 year old businessman, not a professional wrestler. The Smackdown Live brand is meant to be about providing hardworking sports entertainers with the opportunities to succeed, but this match showed us that being a dedicated wrestler isn't the only way to get the best spot on the card. Sometimes, all you need is the right surname.

The main event slot should be reserved for either the World Championship match, or the best potential fight on the card. No one really wants to end the night on a Jinder Mahal bout, but finishing with the tag match between the Usos and The New Day would have sent the crowd home very happy indeed.
